c) Technical Abilities & Tasks

Perform stability calculations, hull form development, sea keeping and power prediction calculations to support proposal and project efforts
Perform structural calculations using empirical formulae and specialized software, from Classification
Regulations as well as from first principles
Prepare vessel arrangements for marketing and proposal efforts displaying knowledge of SOLAS and regulatory body requirements, together with knowledge of requirements for main and auxiliary systems.
Prepare structural drawing packages for submission to Classification Societies with limited input from PM or other structural resources within the office
Prepare production engineering drawings, cutting tapes and information packages

Experience :

3 years experience working in a naval architecture design consultancy office

Qualifications :

A bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture or better from an industry recognized institution. A Master’s degree is preferred.
Be enrolled in a recognized association of Naval Architects.
An excellent ability in English
Cognizant of all aspects of the management of projects, including, but not limited to, the following: establishing realistic working budgets, deliverable deadlines, budget tracking & analysis, prioritize and coordinate project schedules

Basic Function: Assist Manager of Subsea NTL Major Spare Projects with subsea major spare components, overhaul repair and return and preparation for upgrade projects. Assist in maintaining overall coordination and reporting of major projects worldwide.

Duties:

Conduct and organize, as required, rig inspection to define project scope to meet project objectives
Develop equipment specifications and scope of work in accordance with Company standard
Interface and coordinate project with others project discipline engineer. Attend/organize design review.
Submit work progress report and concern periodically to project manager
Review and approve shipyard design, drawings, specifications and documentation
Inspect, follow up equipment, work progress and expediting. Attend and record results of FAT
Follow up class or regulations issue on equipment. Follow up with punch list
Follow up any outstanding or warranty issues with vendors
Track, coordinate and support technical queries with shipyard
Prepare and attend commissioning work test

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor of Science in mechanical, structural, marine or naval Engineering (depending discipline); as a minimum formal higher education related engineering discipline or technical school
Experience: 1 to 2 years minimum experience in engineering offshore and drilling oil industry preferable
Skills: Demonstrate expertise in planning the Work and construction inspection
Special Requirements: The individual must be able to work independently and within team environment. Must be able to be relocated internationally. Proficiency in project schedule and risk management is desirable.
Supervision: Persons directly supervised: up to 5
Budgets: None
Ingenuity: The position required to display ingenuity in the construction of offshore drilling systems as well as in planning capable to carry on project in a timely manner.
Decision Making: Must be capable to take decision and recommendations with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

To support the sales managers with enquiries
Perform initial design calculations and basic scantlings sizing (typical sections) drawings based on various rules, regulations and Owner’s requirements
Estimate the initial vessel construction costs
Preparation of general arrangements for various design enquiries
Prepare technical specifications to suit
Hull modeling to carry out preliminary stability and tonnage checks
Carry out speed-power prediction and related hydrodynamic calculations
To coordinate on assigned projects and monitor deliverables due
To ensure the design meets requested contractual requirements

Key Requirements

Degree in Naval Architecture
Minimum 2 years experience in a similar position
Good knowledge of classifications rules and regulations/Statutory requirements

Having recently won a number of tenders within subsea engineering and renewable energy my client is now seeking to expand their team and the coming years are looking very exciting. Providing a multi-disciplinary engineering design and analysis service to a client base worldwide they are very well placed in the market to expand in size whilst continuing to provide a providing a bespoke service.

Operating across four key disciplines: Structural design, structural analysis, Flow related Thermal Engineering and marine dynamics currently, they are now aggressively expanding their subsea and SURF teams with the aim of establishing a service in installation and Maintenance in the coming years.

Seeking both four new members of staff both junior and senior within naval architecture and subsea structures, as the successful candidate you would have anywhere between 4-15 yrs experience. Knowledge of sea fastening, vessel motion stability and hydro dynamics are key for the architect. For the structural engineer FEA and topside experience is very important.
